Amani - Peace for Democratic Republic of Congo
Amani is "peace" in Kiswahili. This website exists to support the United Nations Association of the Democratic Republic of Congo (UNA-DRC). UNA-DRC is dedicated to helping people throughout the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) by promoting peace, human rights, health, and sustainable development.
Amani DRC is the Internet portal to support activities of the UNA-DRC staff and local partners, and provides access to information, educational and promotional materials, discussions, stories, and on-line materials. Amani DRC was the inspiration for the sister website, The Congo Cause, which exists to bring awareness to friends in the U.S. regarding the news and activities of UNA-DRC.
Through courses, workshops, literature, activities, and other events, (including UN Models with university students), the people of DRC may build awareness of peace, human rights, health, and the environment.
Let there be peace, amani, in the Democractic Republic of Congo.
About this Web Site
Amani DRC is the prototype web site portal developed as part of the graduate program of Global Program--Technology in Education in conjunction with the University of Michigan-Flint and is created to support the United Nations Association of the Democratic Republic of Congo (UNA-DRC).
About the Team and the Graduate Program
In the Congo, UNA-DRC is known as ANU-RDC (Association pour les Nations Unies de la RDC), thus the reason our logo and web site uses both acronyms.
